Privacy

Worth it? is a free set of calculators made by Ying Wu. It's built so that your numbers stay with you.

In short: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking cookies. The sums run on your own device. We don't collect your name, email or the figures you type in.

What you type in

Everything you enter into a calculator is worked out in your browser or app on your own device. It isn't sent to us or stored on a server.

If you press Compare, that receipt is saved in your browser's local storage on your device only, so you can see it next time. You can remove it any time with the Remove button, or by clearing your browser data.

If you share a receipt, the link you share contains the numbers in that calculator, so anyone with the link can see them. Only share what you're happy to share.

Visit counts

We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to count how many people visit and which calculators they use. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across other sites, and doesn't collect personal information. It records things like the page visited, the website that referred you, browser and screen size, and approximate country.

Suggestions

If you use the "What should I add next?" box, the text you type is stored by our hosting provider, Netlify, so we can read it. Please don't include personal information in a suggestion.

Hosting and fonts

The site and app are hosted by Netlify. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts and icons from jsDelivr. Like any website, these services receive your device's IP address and basic technical information when your device requests files, and may keep short-term logs for security.

The Android app

The Worth it? Android app opens this same website, so everything on this page applies to it. It asks for no special permissions beyond internet access, has no ads, and doesn't collect any extra information.

Children

Worth it? is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children.

Not advice

Worth it? shows the maths behind everyday decisions using the numbers you give it. It isn't financial, careers, nutrition or environmental advice.
